1. Check the source and permitted use
Keep a record of the generation platform, account plan and the date the audio was created. Platform rights and disclosure requirements can change. Stem separation does not override the original service terms.
2. Export the cleanest available mix
Use the highest quality source file available to you. Lossy encoding can make already difficult overlap between vocals and instruments harder to separate. Our controlled WAV versus MP3 test documents an encoding-sensitive example.
3. Separate, then evaluate
Open Vocal Remover, read the beta and rights notes, then begin processing. Listen for vocal bleed in the instrumental, missing transients, warbling reverberation or instruments that disappear with the lead voice.
4. Use stems for a clear purpose
- Practice: loop an instrumental section for rehearsal.
- Arrangement review: compare the generated vocal and backing layers.
- Original content production: prepare a permitted alternate version while retaining appropriate AI disclosure.
